Srinagar, June 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a thorough review of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, following a series of recent terror attacks in the Jammu region.

The review meeting, which included National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other senior officials, provided the Prime Minister with a comprehensive overview of the security landscape in J&K. The discussions focused on the counter-terrorism efforts currently underway in the region.

Reports indicate that PM Modi emphasized the need to deploy the full range of counter-terror capabilities to address the ongoing threat. He also communicated with Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the deployment of security forces and ongoing counter-terror operations.

In addition to these high-level discussions, PM Modi spoke with J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to assess the local administration’s efforts in managing the security situation.

The urgency of the review was underscored by a series of recent attacks:

  • On Sunday, nine pilgrims were killed when their bus was attacked by terrorists in Reasi district. The attack caused the bus to veer off the road and plunge into a deep gorge.
  • On Tuesday, a CRPF officer and two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Kathua district, following an attack on civilians in Saida Sukhal village, Hiranagar.
  • Six security personnel lost their lives in an assault on a checkpoint in the Chattergala area of Bhaderwah.
  • A policeman was injured in an encounter in Gandoh, Bhaderwah, on Wednesday night.

These incidents have heightened the urgency for enhanced security measures and robust counter-terror strategies in Jammu and Kashmir.
